Combat Boot Care Tips

Maximize the life of your military-inspired footwear

Condition After Every Break-In Session

Leather loses oils during flexing and heat work. Apply a thin coat of Bick 4 or Lexol after each session. Avoid over-conditioning — once a week max during break-in, then monthly maintenance.

Lace Tight on the Instep, Loose at the Toe

Combat boots should lock your heel in place while giving toes room to spread. Use heel-lock lacing (skip a eyelet, loop back) to prevent slippage. This alone eliminates 80% of break-in blisters.

Wear With Straight-Leg or Tapered Pants

Combat boots work with slim-straight denim, cargo pants, and workwear chinos. Avoid skinny jeans that bunch at the ankle. Let the boot shaft show slightly — cuff once or let pants fall naturally over the top.
